The Liverpool
Nativity, as broadcast by BBC 3 on December 16th 2007.
I was there, as
part of a large BBC crew on a record breaking live drama outside
broadcast. 300 actors and performers in front of camera, 150 behind the
scenes. |
 |
Some rare colour pictures of
BBC Bush House taken in 1961 can be seen
here sent from Barry Warner in New
Zealand. |
 |
October time and
I usually find myself in England's beautiful Forest of Dean.
Brockweir,
to be precise where some TV location lighting training for the BBC is
carried out by Bernie Davis and me.
We were recently christened the Mike and Bernie
Show.
(That will only be appreciated by TV viewers of the
1970's I guess...) |

Mid September
and I was taking a few days walking 'ooop in t'Dales.' Ed (my son) and I
stretched our legs around
Kettlewell and
Malham way.
It was like going back in time, in the nicest possible
way. We stayed in B&B's and enjoyed pub meals and nice Northern Ale in
the evenings.
We also spent some time in and around
Colne taking a
look at places remembered from my youth. |
 |
Early September
2007 saw us in the French department of
Aveyron.
Easyjet took us from Bristol to Toulouse and a two
hour drive took us into the Massif Central north of Albi.
During our week stay, we visited
Millau
to see, of course, that bridge. the worlds highest viaduct. |
 |
Bank holiday
weekend 2007. Jean and I make an early start to climb
Corn Du and
Pen y Fan. Twice in one week...
Come and join us. |
 |
Towards the end of
July, we had a few days in sunny
North Wales where John Towriss took
me on some serious biking trails! Made me decide I needed a new bike!
The Marin Trail and the new
Penmachno trails were explored by
yours truly and JT. Conway, Deganwy and
Llandudno and parts of Snowdonia were also photographed. |
 |
Mid July 2007, and
a very wet month here in the UK. July 14th, however, was gorgeous.
I took the opportunity to join some friends for a walk
up South Wales's highest mountain,
Pen y Fan. |
 |
May 2007 and whilst
most people are still planning their holidays, Jean and I escaped to
Canada for a 16 day tour of
Vancouver Island and the
Olympic
National Park in the North west of the USA. Please join us for
the 'slide show'. A visit to the huge
Boeing assembly plant near
Seattle was also very much on the
itinerary.
Our trip ended with several days in the
Inn at Mt Baker.
Fancy having a mountain named after you! |
 |
A very brief visit to Edinburgh
early in May enabled me to take a close look at the new
parliament building
in Holyrood. It was a beautiful day... |
 |
There was this Millennium
'thing' when almost everything had a Millennium tag. Well, in the Vale
of Glamorgan there are a series of walks with that tag and Jean was keen
for us to get out and stretch our legs. One
Sunday morning in March we
did just that. Seven quite long miles... In
April we
did another section based on walks around Llancarfan and nearby
villages. |
 |
Late March and I take a short
trip across 'Le Manche' into
Brittany with a friend. |
 |
Early February and
the family Baker, well, nine of us plus Carys, queue for the plane (only kidding) to
take us to Les
Deux Alpes. |
|
 |
A few more
additions to my 'Club Stuff' (photography) can be seen
here. |
 |
Mid January 2007
and a short 'green' trip to
Oxford by bus and an even greener
walk around the splendid architectural scene that is this world famous
university city. |
|
 |
The first week of
December saw me taking a three day
landscape photography course in
Fife, Scotland with the guidance of Mark Cargill, a professional
photographer resident in that area. Take a look at how I got on. |

 |
One wet and windy
weekend in November 2006, I was fortunate in escaping to a misty, moisty
and sunny Germany.
Well, one small corner of Germany near the Swiss border and about a half hours
drive from Zurich airport. |
|
 |
Eight Triathlons in
one year followed by a short walk across the Albert Hall stage as part
of Imperial College's Graduation ceremony.
Caroline
Robertson; it's your day! |
|
 |
In October 2006, I
was surprised and pleased to receive an award for my entry into the
Celtic Challenge 2006 for 'best colour print.' You can read more about
it here |
|
 |
In June 2006 I had a
short working trip to Bucharest, the
capital of Rumania. The work precluded many photographs, but I did catch
a few around my hotel. |
 |
Caroline completed the
London Triathlon
in a time of 2 hours 33mins over the Olympic length course. I was tired
just watching... It was her 8th triathlon that
year! |

Our journey through
South west America taking in
Comanche, Route 66,
Amarillo,
Albuquerque,
Petrified Forest,
Sedona, The
Grand Canyon,
Monument Valley,
Los Alamos,
Santa Fe and
Broken Bow. Where? As my wife's cousin, Gary, once said: 'Well, it's not the end of the world, but you
can see it clearly from there!'
Come right on in and take a
look at what our trip was really all about. |
