Holiday Home in Central France

Holidays at Les Canardeaux are an enriching, carefree and relaxing experience.

Rustic Simplicity

Les Canardeaux is a charming eighteenth century holiday cottage south of the Loire Valley with its own private swimming pool.

Tiled floors, stone walls, exposed beams … Les Canardeaux combines rustic simplicity with modern conveniences, a perfect base for holidays or house hunting, any time of the year.

Rates

Prices range from 380 to 990 euros a week and include bed linen and all towels.  In low and mid season you can rent the cottage for shorter periods.   Although Les Canardeaux has room for six people, special low rates apply for couples who want to stay here during school term time.

In the Berry

The Berry, to the south of the Loire River, is a region of rolling farmland and extensive woodland with ancient towns and castles to explore, excellent wines and first-rate restaurants.

Our holiday home is situated here, close to the village of Ambrault and within reach of three golf courses.

Calais is about 6 hours’ drive from the cottage and we are 25 minutes from Junction 12 of the A20.

The house is on the edge of the local forest, three minutes by car from the bakery and café, and close to the historic towns of Nohant and La Châtre, in a region made famous by George Sand, novelist and companion of Chopin.

The surrounding villages, less than ten minutes away, contain restaurants, shops, banks and weekly markets. There is an Auchan hypermarket on the outskirts of Chateauroux (20 minutes' drive)
The garden

The garden of 2000 sq metres is mainly to the back of the cottage with uninterrupted views for miles across open fields.  There is a pair of handsome iron gates securing the entrance and plenty of space for two cars to park within the grounds and one outside.

Wine and dine

The exposed stone walls of the house offer a cool respite in summer.  The dining area is furnished with a long, solid oak table and six chairs, allowing ample space to enjoy a leisurely meal.  The kitchen is designed to make cooking a pleasure.   There is good lighting, masses of cupboards, an excellent range of utensils, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble drier.

Warm to the glow of a wood fire in winter

The house has a large open plan living area, stone walls and oak beams.  In winter, the wood burning fire is the focal point surrounded by a comfortable settee and armchairs.

Bright and sunny bathroom

The bathroom has a corner bath with shower, huge basin, generous storage space and an electric heater to hang the towels on.  There are 2 separate toilets (one on each floor).

Four bedrooms for six people give space and privacy

Les Canardeaux sleeps up to six people in two double and two single bedrooms.  All the bedrooms have bedside tables with lights, mirrors and electric heaters.  A cot and high chair will be provided on request.
