Strumble Head
| In mid June, 2003 I took advantage of a
brilliantly sunny day to take my bike down to west Wales. By mid morning I
was parked in Fishguard and cycling down the hill through this quaint,
historic town through Goodwick and up a long steep hill to the starting
point of my ride, Llanwnda. |

In this tiny hamlet is a church which, in
1797, was the scene of high drama when the last invasion of Britain took
place nearby at Carregwasted Point.
On February 22nd of that year, drunken
convicts and mercenaries led by an American (!) General Tate tried to burn
down the church.

Fortunately, they were frightened off by the
local militia aided, so it is said, by the presence of local ladies in
their tall Welsh hats and red shawls which were mistaken for Redcoat
reinforcements.
On leaving the hamlet, its downhill and sharing a track
with a small stream for a mile or so. |

The view opens out with a distant view of

...which protects sailors off this part of
the Pembrokeshire coastline, especially when their GPRS system packs in. |

Place to be on a perfect summers day. |

a couple of miles up a (very) steep hill is
Garn Fawr in a commanding position overlooking sea and land alike.

photographers and for just escaping stress filled weekday lives.
