Strumble Head

In mid June, 2003 I took advantage of a brilliantly sunny day to take my bike down to west Wales. By mid morning I was parked in Fishguard and cycling down the hill through this quaint, historic town through Goodwick and up a long steep hill to the starting point of my ride, Llanwnda.

In this tiny hamlet is a church which, in 1797, was the scene of high drama when the last invasion of Britain took place nearby at Carregwasted Point.

On February 22nd of that year, drunken convicts and mercenaries led by an American (!) General Tate tried to burn down the church.

On leaving the hamlet, its downhill and sharing a track with a small stream for a mile or so.

Like, wow, what a coastline.

Place to be on a perfect summers day.

Excellent for walkers, bikers, twitchers, photographers and for just escaping stress filled weekday lives.
