The lost or hidden gardens of Aberglasney are to be found just a few miles north of the M4 in South Wales. You leave behind the chemical and steel plants of Swansea and port Talbot to enter an altogether calmer, greener lush countryside within minutes. Time whilst not exactly stopping, does seem to slow down. The sign at the entrance, pictured here, sets the scene.

We arrived on a thoroughly 'moist' day. The rain was slowing down as we paid for our tickets that mid October day in 2004.

The official site is here: http://www.aberglasney.org/

The renovation of house and gardens, is an ongoing task as dedicated gardeners and craftsmen work their Welsh magic on what was a deserted and ruinous site.

Note how oranges are once again growing in this beautiful garden.

A water feature improves most gardens: Aberglasney does not disappoint.

Jean explores amidst a riot of colour

This picture is actually three separate images joined together.

Beryl and Jean explore the woods. Followed closely by a photographer...

A view of a nearby hillside which just oozes the essence of this part of South Wales. And I bet it oozed mud on the day we were there, too.

A strange male silhouette stands under a tree at the end of the woodland walk.

A not so wee robin poses in all her fatfullness. Pregnant perhaps?
