The tour ended with a very environmental tour
around the top of the 'mountain'. Not to knock it too much, but I used to be
told that a mountain had to be more than 2000 feet high. As it happens,
Cadillac Mountain does offer some splendid views of the coastline. I think
the ranger said that at 1530 feet above sea level this was the highest point
of the east coast of America north of Brazil. All of a sudden, the 3000 feet
plus of Snowdonia in l'il ole Wales seems even more impressive!
Back in Bar Harbor, there were a few more
snaps to be had.
Like, be here for Halloween or else?
A rare picture of the photographer taken by his long
suffering assistant.
Still warm and dry... Just you wait, somebody upstairs
was saying.
Thus ended our brief but enjoyable visit to
Bar Harbor. The Acadia Park was excellent and I would have liked to have
done some cycling there. Perhaps next time.
