Acadia National park

Another magical day. Flat calm water, blue skies and we were to spend it in America's first National park. Looking down onto the myriad islands that lie just off the coast in this edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Bar Harbor, seen through a long lens. (650mm handheld to be precise)

Have you noticed how many digital photographers there are nowadays? When did you last buy a film?

Film still has a few advantages, but not enough to keep me in the Fuji/Kodak camp.

Having said that, this is the sort of scene where digital struggles to keep the contrast ratio of a scene without burning out highlights.

Bracketing of exposure is essential, and then you need a tripod. No tripod on this holiday.

There's that lovely (1997) boat again. It takes tourists out each day from Bar Harbor.

Not sure what this is, maybe another lighthouse, but the image is suitably moody.

This is my lovely wife, Jean enjoying our little sample of New England.

Hey, look, it's those photographers again. (He says, without an element of empathy...) I do believe that if you look closely, there's another one, kneeling to take his picture!

This is Sand Beach.

Note the capital letters, cos that's what it is actually called as well as being a pretty good description.

Of the three above, the last is my favourite.

The 'Thunder hole' was not thundering today. Too calm. Come back in winter.

Maybe...

Some beautiful vistas jumped at my lens.

But this wee chappie was not for jumping anywhere.

A cormorant preens itself in the sunshine.
We took a walk around Jordan Pond. Some pond, it took well over an hour to walk round!

We Olde English think of a pond as something we have in our garden.
