The village of Carennac must be our most favourite French village ever.

Not only gorgeous, but tranquil and best of all, no tourists!

It is on the southern bank of the Dordogne just a few K's from the 'Gouffre de Padirac', another tourist hot spot.

From the car park, there is a path that goes alongside pretty little Hansel and Gretel type cottages. Here, we are somehow levitating at roof level!
Clearly some tourists are expected. You're never too far from a rustic old door in this part of France.
A swallow emerges from its tight fit front door.
Jean and I settle down to a delightful lunch in a pretty little restaurant.

The (once again!) very old church is approached through an equally ancient stone arch.

The re was some beautiful organ music playing as we walked in. That, together with the simple beauty of the church interior was quite breathtaking.

As we headed back to the car, we passed this strange device. Does anyone out there know what it is?

Might it be a portable still?

Looks like Oxford has sunk...

Below is a 360 degree panorama taken on a bridge in the middle of Carennac.

I haven't got the proper software for doing this, so it's a bit rough in places. No tripod either, so I had to crop quite tightly.

Another pretty little place, once we had found it...

...and Autoire...

There is often a Logis de France in these beauty spots.
