Cardiff at Christmas

cityhall.jpg (32955 bytes) A walk through the city one cold December evening showed a few extra bits and pieces just for the Christmas 'thrash'. Here the distinguished City Hall has a strange new neighbour. queenst.jpg (57896 bytes) Queen Street is the main shopping thoroughfare in Cardiff with all your major chain stores including the UK's biggest Dixon's store. So I was told. The tree lighting is particularly attractive.

Even Cardiff's famous arcades get a seasonal lift.

Market Street runs in a roughly southerly direction towards the Bay and towards the main Bus and Train stations.

What I like most about the city is that its shopping centre is very compact yet with a wide choice of shopping.

looking towards the church of St Mary which is right in the heart of the shopping precinct and surrounded by eating places.

This is the famous castle, with Queen Street in the distance

There is an outdoor skating rink for several weeks over the festive period
