A walk through the city one cold December
evening showed a few extra bits and pieces just for the Christmas
'thrash'. Here the distinguished City Hall has a strange new neighbour. |

Queen Street is the main shopping thoroughfare
in Cardiff with all your major chain stores including the UK's biggest Dixon's
store. So I was told. The tree lighting is particularly attractive. |
|
Even Cardiff's famous arcades get a
seasonal lift. |
 |
Market Street runs in a roughly southerly
direction towards the Bay and towards the main Bus and Train stations.
What I like most about the city is that
its shopping centre is very compact yet with a wide choice of shopping. |

turning through 180 degrees and looking
towards the Castle. |

|
looking towards the church of St Mary which
is right in the heart of the shopping precinct and surrounded by eating
places. |
|
This is the famous castle, with Queen
Street in the distance |
 |
There is an outdoor skating rink for several
weeks over the festive period |
