Another day, and Richard and I cycle over a
very big hill to the Dyffryn Arms in the Gwaun Valley. it is otherwise know
as 'Bessie's' because the landlady is one Bessie Davies. She has been
running the pub for many years and is a well known and loved member of the
community.
We had a warm welcome and enjoyed a glass
of beer served by Bessie from a jug, straight from the barrel and through a
serving hatch. Very few pubs in the UK where that happens nowadays.
On our way home, over another big hill passing this
inquisitive horse sporting a warm waistcoat.
Back in Parrog, a Victorian post box and a shop sign above a
shop that is no more.
0830 the following morning and the cold goes
on.
A dog on wellie watch and a boat at high
tide.
A walk along the estuary and the cold is
bitter. A curlew paddles in the near freezing water looking for breakfast.
This was my favourite of my pre breakfast photos. The
stream is part frozen and the early morning suns rays are just reaching over
Mynydd Caregog.
A few miles to the south is Cwm yr Eglwys.
Most of the 12th century church was swept away in a huge storm in 1859.
The sign tells the story.
The beach adjacent to the church.
Part of a gravestone with memories of long dead people.
End of another day. Tomorrow, we are going to
St David's at the edge of St Brides bay.
