Arrival
Concorde suddenly appeared over the trees to the west of
Fonmon Castle and we were rewarded for our long cold wait with this
magnificent view as she made her final descent into Cardiff/Wales airport. |

Final approach
Seconds later she catches the sun on this
bright October day; landing gear down and just half a mile to the runway. |

Take Off
Later in the day, she takes off towards the
west taking another full load of excited passengers out over the Bay of
Biscay. The undercarriage can be seen to be in the process of closing. |

Re Heat
Afterburners on, she roars off into the west
setting off our car alarms and giving us a taste of aural 'threshold of
pain'! |

Concorde over Fonmon Castle
No trickery here; this was how it was as
Concorde approached the airport. A 'second unit photographer' took this in
wide angle as I took the close ups from the tower. |

Almost There
A few weeks later I am at Filton to witness
her last ever touch down. Here, she passes the Brabazon Hanger and a large
welcome home poster. Good timing, or what! OK, I'll admit to a lot of luck. |

Final Touch down
And this is the actual moment of the last
ever touchdown as spray betrays the heavy shower that has only recently
occurred. I like the way that the stormy cloud follows the graceful curve of
the aeroplane! |
