Covehithe is one of those tiny hamlets on the east coast of England that you come across possibly because you're lost!

I had a few hours on my own to explore with my camera and that's my excuse, Between Southwold and Lowestoft it was...

I stopped to study my map and was suddenly aware of a great number of seabirds in a field on my left. The sight of me was clearly enough to send them on their way!
Two or thee miles to the east took me into Covehithe.

The church is that of St Andrew. The shell is that of the larger church which fell derelict in 1672.

I was blessed with bright blue skies. They formed a magnificent background to a slightly odd sight of a church within a church.
