Down in Cwmtydi Bay, a fresh water stream rushes across the beach to the nearby sea.

There is an interesting story about this beach.

In World War 1, a German submarine commander took his submarine into the cove to surface, charging his batteries and fetching fresh water from the stream for his men. He knew the cove from a peacetime visit.
Kids, just like me at that age, were playing happily on the beach and getting their feet wet in the time honoured way.

Big kids were out in their sea kayaks. It looked most enjoyable. But then, I'm just a big kid too.

But out there, they were being watched by a true inhabitant of the Cwmtydu waves.

after lunch, we explored the Gwaun Valley, just behind Newport. It's time warpy stuff. Dr Who would appreciate the lost decades...
This is a beautiful garden that is now open to the public. with fantastic views.
The Preseli hills beyond.

Long horned cattle?

and then there's Bessie's, a wonderful pub deep in the Gwaun Valley that is a National treasure.

Say no more.

a meeting place for travellers of all kinds.
Then, after a superb drive back to Newport over the mountain, with fabulous views en route

The following morning, I was out early. well, early for me.

and that is just a small part of the attraction of Newport Pembs.

See you there?
