Just an old tree root, but how old and where
from? Each of the gnarled pieces of wood must have it's own story. I have
heard of landscape gardeners coming to Canada to ship them to the UK for
wealthy home owners in the UK.
Our return to the car park was like walking
through a film set: 'Walking with Dinosaurs', perhaps.

bridge. Jean didn't stop to look.
Later, there was a far gentler boardwalk to
negotiate.
with some interesting plants
and a black squirrel. Only grey and (a very
few) red ones in the UK.
Higher up Grouse mountain, our first
glimpse of the kind of scenery that will just keep on getting better and
better.
