Imagine, if you can, a bitterly cold day with a wind blowing from the east. The temperature at the car park was -4deg C. I climbed the oh so familiar path and arrived at the 'ridge' about 50 minutes later. the wind was blowing a gale adding to the wind chill factor. My main concern, as a photographer, was keeping my camera battery warm enough to take pictures. How sad is that?

I did think that the focus servo was getting a bit slow, but I show the results of my climb below.

On leaving the car park, it was plain to see the mist/fog blowing from the direction of Brecon and evaporating in the early warmth (?) of a December sun.
As I climbed, I noticed that a lot of work had been done on repairing the path, It was largely dry and well drained. From high up, this is looking down to the North East.

And this to the south.

Far younger people than I were 'taking the air'. Some ice, some weather challenged vegetation and a blue, blue sky.

On the way down, just a big sky and the streaming fog from the north.

I also met a gentleman who was even older (by a big margin) than me. He told me that he was just 85 years old. He lived in the Merthyr area and had lost his wife two and a half years ago. He tried to keep himself fit by regularly climbing Pen y Fan. There's hope for me yet.
