The Royal Yacht Britannia now is moored as a
floating museum down at Ocean Terminal in Leith. Unfortunately, an early
mist did not help the photographer. |
A coffee was downed in the hope that the mist
would clear. Er, no. |
There is an enormous Shopping Mall within
the terminal buildings which has clearly cost a great deal of money. My
friend who lives locally told me that this is one of the few places in
Edinburgh where parking is easy and free.
Not enough time to do justice to the Royal
Yacht, so I'm taken on a guided tour of some of Edinburgh's photographic
gems. This small lake (Dunsapie Loch) less than a mile from the Royal Mile. |
The swans were clearly either very friendly
or just hungry. |
Just around the corner; a Hitchcock moment! |
Duddingston Loch seen from the heights of
Holyrood Park.
The Palace itself, seen from the top of
Nelson Monument on Calton Hill.
Back towards town now, Waterloo Place leading
into... |
..Princes Street, surely one of the worlds
most famous streets. |
I couldn't resist taking this long shot
(400 Takumar on EOS 10D) of Princes Street.
These old (and slippy) stone steps lead
down from the main street.
Summer is not yet over ruled by Winter. |
And finally, the enormously impressive Castle
sits atop the volcanic 'plug' that gives it it's defensive position. |
