Richard and I cycle posing at very low speeds for a long telephoto lens!

In the first two weeks of September 2002, I cycled the length of France (or should it be the height) to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Relief Charity. The illustrated story of our journey is covered below under  'Entre Deux Mers'.

Richard, my son accompanied me on this, my personal 'Everest'.

Barcud Derwen of Caernarvon and ARRI Lighting UK were two of my major sponsors.
Final amount of collected sponsorship money is £4000. Thank you everybody.

Pledges came in from my friends and colleagues in e-mail land as far away as Italy and Texas!

An article was written about my efforts in the South Wales Echo on Monday July 29th. Another article in our local free paper, The Cowbridge Gem covered the proposed trip on the front page followed by one in the Barry Post. There's even an article that was published in France!

The articles, the story of our ride and the presentation of the BIG cheque can be seen below.

To all of you who sponsored me, thank you very much.

What a strange coincidence to be told about your trip. Myself and nine friends are doing the same journey albeit St Malo down the West coast then across to Agen and onto Narbonne Plage. April 28th -May 11th 2004. Smaller daily mileages and a good crack ! What's more of a coincidence is that the two charities that will benefit are Macmillan Cancer relief and the Heart Foundation. It's been about 3 years since we first thought of it and now it is only about 8 weeks away. Alan Jenkins South Wales
