Fort Worden State Park
is a state park located along Admiralty Inlet in Jefferson County near
the Victorian seaport of Port Townsend, Washington, United States. It is
situated on over 400 acres. It was originally built as a United States
Army installation for the protection of Puget Sound.
Lots of locals are enjoying a walk on this chilly
spring morning.
That's Mt Baker in the background.
More of that later.
this sign was near to the lighthouse and referred to
a now defunct fog horn.
This poignant poem told one a little more about the
fort.
Someone didn't have spellcheck on his
paint brush.
A few miles south of Port Townsend is Mt Walker, 2750
feet high and driveable to the top.
The view was superb looking out to Dabob Bay where
submarines are often seen as there is a Naval base nearby.
On the corner of Discovery Bay there is a cafe made
out of old rolling stock.
Which brings us to the end of this
phase of our trip. Tomorrow, its a longish drive around to
Seattle where
we had just 24 hours to take a whistle stop tour of the city.
