From miles away, you see it towering above
the flat, flat plain. It is Chartres, and although it doesn't look too big
here, it is pretty impressive when you get close. |
The beautiful use of coloured glass and
candle light inside is quite breathtaking. |
We arrive at our first stop in Foecy, near
Vierzon, about 100 miles south of Paris. Peter and Alison make us most
welcome in this delightful Chambres D'Hotes called 'Au Petit Prieure' (The
little Priory). |

This is the view from our window towards the
church in this sleepy little non touristy town. |
That evening, I suggest that we take un aperitif
at the local bar, just a short cycle ride away. Sat in the evening warmth,
this is about as hectic as it gets. |
The following day, Jean and I go out for a
wee bike ride. Lunch is taken en route, and is as gorgeous as it looks. |
Along the canal tow path towards Vierzon..... |
....we see a couple of lads fishing |
It all looks so idyllic |
downtown 'pub' brings us back to earth with a
bump. |
We go along to the market with Peter and
Alison |
They are both excellent cooks and go to some
trouble to serve excellent fresh food with wine of commensurate quality. |
A fabulous choice of wild mushrooms and Cepes. |
How does one water all these hanging basket
thingys? |
Another day, another village, not much
happening at number 7, then. |
I'm really not sure this is the place to
get your hair sorted, either. |
Siesta time ici, also. Even for a tired old
2CV. |
