Gower-a peninsula full of coves, cliffs and beaches.

just a few short and bendy miles from Swansea Bay and Mumbles, past Swansea airport and you are in the peninsula known as Gower. It was the first area in the UK to be designated as 'An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' (AONB). It boasts clean and award winning beaches, and a host of other attractions within its rugged coastline. I've been a couple of times with a digital camera.

Tor bay was worth a look, I thought, so I parked in a tiny car park and followed a well maintained path towards the bay. And what a bay!

A deserted farm en route to the beach.

Suddenly, it is there, a huge dramatic outcrop of rock in the midst of huge sandy beaches.

Uncrowded beaches at that...

Warm enough to paddle in early June.

Britain has now largely overcome its 'Dirty Man' of Europe through much money and effort over the last few years.

as much room as you need for the biggest sand castle you could wish to make.

I'm no bird enthusiast but enjoyed photographing them on this walk. clean water too

Oxwich Bay is the next Bay along in a westerley direction. And it's huge. You can see a panorama of it by clicking  here.

The Bay holds the coveted green flag.

super beaches in Gower safe and gently shelving
