After our whistle stop tour of the White Mountains, it
was off to the Green Mountains.
This amused me, maybe I have family out
here. |
The mist lifted as we climbed through quiet
leafy lanes. This is one of the many fire stations that one sees. As
everything is built of wood and surrounded by trees, I suppose it makes
sense. |
So, we are close to the Chinook trail.
The drive was really enjoyable for many miles. The pictures below speak for themselves. |

Having passed through East Sandwich, Center Sandwich and
Sandwich we are now approaching the lakeside resort of Meredith. |
A glimpse of someone's island home. |
and a glimpse of what happens to all our
motor cars eventually... |
Meredith was nice and warm, so we stop for a
picnic lunch. |
Clear instructions as to who we can feed. |
Who is the giant metal fisherman on the islet? |
A classical, almost Italian lakes view |

We did take the Quechee gorge trail, but were a little
disappointed, possibly because of comparison with other sights we had seen
earlier.
A very helpful visitor centre, though. |
Those are tourists looking down at us looking up at them. |
It is a very deep gorge, we didn't investigate the
bottom. |
More clapboard houses... |
We arrive in Woodstock which is one of those
'most pretty towns in New England' type of place.
I don't seek to contest the claim.
Did you see that sign: Suicide Six! |
And so we arrive in Killington at the Summit
Inn. The forecast is not so good for the morrow... |
