Just a mile or so out of Menai Bridge on Anglesey, there are some magnificent 'hidden' gardens which, like the gardens at Heligan in Cornwall, are in the lengthy process of being re-discovered and restored to their former glory.

They are at Plas Cadnant and have previously only been open to group visits. We were lucky enough to be in the area on the first Sunday that they were open to the public, so, in we went.

We are accompanied by a rather fine pussy cat! There are holiday cottages available for hire within the 9 acres of gardens.

Down in the woodland area, there's an attractive stream and a pond with some junior wild life.

Well, wildish.

There are some gorgeous trees down in the woodland area.

This was our first visit and I just loved them! They had much of the appeal of Bodnant in a smaller more intimate setting.

You can read more about the gardens at: http://www.plascadnant.co.uk/en-GB/the_estate-2.aspx

Three panoramic images of the gardens to finish off.
