August 2008. I decided to do some serious hill climbing (for me) so it was over to Conway, left through the arch and down to Trefrew.

keep well to the left, the old bridge crossing the Conway river is very busy. About 30 minutes later I arrrive in Trefrew where a sign to Llyn Crafnant gives no clue to the steepness of the hill ahead. Its bad enough in a car, but on a bike?

A home made warning sign: bi-lingual, of course.

It's a long climb through verdant undergrowth.

Fimally, I arrive at Llyn Crafnant with splendid views across the lake to Snowdonia.

A quick zizz down the hill with brakes on for most of the way back to Llanwryst.

Then I take the road to Llangernw up a long and winding road. About a 300 metre climb.

I liked this cottage perched high in its lush setting.

....with additional stream...

Master of all its herd? Splendid views across the valley to Snowdonia. This is one of my favourite roads that runs north to Colwyn Bay.

It's a quiet road, too with lots of interest on ones left.

The wind was behind me as a bonus. Finally dropping back down to sea level I have covered a total of about 36 miles and a total climb of about 1000 feet.
