Twas New Years Day 2007 and we decided to flush
out any celebratory cobwebs by taking some fresh air by way of a long
walk. The weather was somewhat stormy and we togged up and took
ourselves along Llanquian Road in a south easterly direction towards an
Iron age fort that is well away from the hurly burly of 21st century
life. Roy and Wendy (our immediate neighbours) joined us...
First, there's a short walk along
Llanquain Rd from the village.
Then, it's a steepish clamber up the
side of the fort.
Long fallen trees just rot quietly on the steep
slopes
some very interesting funghi...
then it's time to slither back down
This huge, very solid beech tree stands
in the midst of all the decay.
Decay takes on some strange and very
interesting shapes
Interesting framing possibilities
and then amidst all Natures bits and
pieces, an old milk churn!
followed not long afterwards by an incongruously
placed water tap: screwed to a tree, miles from anywhere...
Then the rain started pelting down and
we sloshed our way home to dry out.
