Malcolm and I had a competition on a machine from the
sixties. It was one of those tests of skill in navigating a large ball
bearing into the 'finish' slot. Modesty prevents me from revealing who
won.
This sign amused me, I remember the black cat symbol
of this brand. Not that i ever smoked them...
Here, the gang out on a walk in
Alverstone.
Ventnor, a classic seaside resort where not a lot has
changed over the decades. I was quite glad to be there during low season
though.
A typical old fashioned tea/coffee shop.
Here, a panorama of the town from the pier.
Tony, Nicky, Carol and Malcom.
Alverstone Mead Nature reserve was an excellent visit
for all of us. Squirrels of the red variety were not only seen but seen
in close proximity here.
A list was provided with current
sightings.
First, we had to walk in single file along a pretty
woodland path.
They were everywhere! Here, hopping over Malcolms
camera.
from a red squirrel to a red light:
outside Carisbrooke castle.
That's how traffic lights used to look
when I were a lad.
On the way back to our cars from the
Nature Reserve we see a bull 'chatting up' a cow.
It's our last day so we pose for the camera in the
cottage garden.
some more pics from our cliff top walks.
We had a visit to St Mildreds church in Whippingham
which became closely associated with the Royal family in the late 19th
century.
It is just a mile from Osborne House.
This is part of the roof of that church
seen from the floor.
Three full days in mid May is not really enough to do
justice to the island, but it was a most enjoyable visit.
