We had a short trip to Italy in July to see some old friends, Tony and Mary Escott who, having retired from work some years ago, now live in a pretty apartment overlooking Lake Lugano near the Swiss border. I used to work with Tony at the BBC Wales studios. He and his wife are both excellent hosts and cooks, what better for a short break...

When we arrived, it was very hot; after a few days the temperature plummeted after a severe storm, giving some atmospheric pics.


This is the stunning view from their balcony. The city of Lugano is on the extreme right of frame.
	At various times of day and evening, the view still enthrals.
The weather is about to break; it breaks big time with violent winds and torrential rain		A misty, moisty morning follows
	I think this is Menaggio on Lake Como. Very beautiful, if a little touristy.		Inside a tiny church in Cima
		There are some rather fine gardens at Villa Carlotta on Lake Como. We had a wander through the gardens..
From time to time, my friend Tony sends me some pics that he takes in and around northern Italy.
