January was mostly wet here in South Wales so there was little hope of climbing Pen y Fan in decent weather. On the last day of the month, I took that familiar path to the top, arriving before the sun had had time to melt the hoar frost. Every stone had beautiful arrangements of what seemed like wind blown crystals.

There were just a few others making the climb

But my favourite shot was this one:

The cairn at the summit of Pen y Fan.

February 14th. A gorgeous warm, Springlike day. My son Ed and I climbed Pen y Fan together.

This pony sort of greeted us.

People were already descending at 1030 am.
Ed captures the view.

Dad takes a rest at the summit.

Two very different views from the summit.
