A new year, 2011 and its my first trip up Pen y Fan on a cold, bright morning. On this day, I notice for the first time a small informal Rememberance garden commemorating fallen soldiers who have done their basic training on these mountains.

An hour or so later, we are almost 900 metres above sea level but all the photographic interest is down at grass level!
Some blue sky behind the frozen grass.

I took this one down to monochrome because it seemed appropriate.

As you walk near the edge, you realise it is a very steep drop.

More spikey grass.

encore.

The panorama to the right is comprised of about 6 shots merged together using Photoshop merge command. Very successfully if I may say so.

Much easier and quicker than doing it by hand.
