Manse cottage features on the front of our walk
guide. It may surprise some people who do not know south Wales to know
that thatched roofs are not uncommon here.
This splash of colour in a corner of someone's garden
appealed to me.
I suppose this could be the little and
large of the canine world giving us a noisy 'welcome' in Llanblethery.
Then there was a very big field to be crossed to
Aberogwm farm.
Waiting for Jean and Wendy who reckon this is
infinitely better than their usual Sunday morning trip to the Gym.
Then it's across another field on an easterly
direction.
A field of rapeseed gives a splash of
colour to the distant landscape.
Finally, we start to drop down into the
valley and journeys end.
The local farmer has obligingly used weed killer of
some kind to mark our path through his crops.
Llancarfan below us.
Roy meets some frisky and friendly
calves.
They follow him in Pied Piper fashion.
One doesn't see many of these about.
One of Llancarfans great appeals is the
small river that flows through its centre.
Its other great appeal is the Fox and
Hounds which, in spite of serving a busy Sunday lunch, managed to serve
us some excellent food which was washed down with an excellent hoppy
local beer followed by a nice bottle of Chilean Carmenere,
A splendid end to three and a half hours
walking through pleasant Vale landscape.
