Friday evening, and we set up to pre record a couple of short scenes on board Snowdrop. It is grey and very cold. It is fascinating to see that there has been a ferry crossing the Mersey for over 600 years. Yes, 600!

Berthing at the Cruise liner terminal.

Lighting is by a series of Atlas type fittings along the canopy of the building and some fittings rigged on the boat itself.

Radio aerials are rigged out of shot to pick up the radio mics of the principal artists.

Its that iconic Liverpool building once more.

A BBC truck with its attendant comms dishes. My favourite shot of the Liver building.

Yours truly was lent a suitable hat for this shot. Needless to say, the boat was firmly secured and not going anywhere with Captain Baker.

Tim, our sound man, had his mixing and recording set up under cover, but still icy cold.
We were virtually ready to go. Just awaiting the artists and production team.

Some of us were treated to a short trip to the engine room. It was so nice and warm there!

Two huge (by my standards) engines power port and starboard props to give good manoeuvrability. Executive Producer, Sue Judd and Director Richard discuss the action plan.

Jodie, Kenny and Richard rehearse.

Music plays a strong theme throughout; many well known tunes feature.

Some of my lamps here, but they don't feature in the final take! This is Gerry of Pacemakers fame. (Ferry across the Mersey) He was to play the captain in this nativity story.

A touch of make up before the take; Liverpools sky line behind. Still bitterly cold!

Next day, I took a look at the main stage where things were running a little late. Not unusual for a large event.
