Llandudno's splendid funicular
railway which climbs the Great Orme in style. |
 |
Awaiting passengers.... |
|
It's a pleasant way of getting to the top of
the Great Orme to enjoy the views. Although I have to admit: I've never
done it myself! I prefer to take the strenuous way and cycle up.

 |
Further up the Orme, the trams pass one of
Llandudno's great secrets: the worlds largest Bronze Age Copper mines.
Truly. |
Gradually, since the late
1980's, the rubble has gradually been removed from the site revealing a
network of mines going down to sea level. |

Hard hat on, it's
time to go down under |

The passages are narrow but
colourful
|
 |
Eventually, one pops out into
the open air and can inspect the oldest part of the mine: the open cast.

 |
Down on the beach, it's a case of: 'Dun
Building' |
 |
The lifeboat people were out fundraising on
the prom. |
|
The Grand Hotel is big and central. I cycle
past it on my daily run round the Orme. |

Time for an Indian meal? |

The little Orme in the distance.
Oh, and a different day!

One cold January morning in 2006 as I cycled around the

Llandudno also has a ski slope, a
very good one my step-daughter informs me!

some fine red sandstone frontages
to be seen just off the high street in downtown Llandudno. |

From the top of the Orme, a sunset over
Anglesey. |
Some sunsets from Deganwy.
