The Royal Wedding

April 8th 2005 was the day that Prince Charles married Camilla. Wrong! It should have been, but the Popes funeral was also scheduled for that day, so it was moved on a day to Saturday 9th. I was lucky enough to be involved professionally in that I helped set up the two temporary studios overlooking the Guild Hall and Windsor Castle Henry VIIIth gate, respectively.

The technical bit will eventually appear elsewhere on the site, but here are a few of the pictures I took in and around Windsor during that week.

This was the view from my hotel window in mid week. Cold and wet weather had returned to Southern Britain after an unusually warm spell. From the window of the Windsor Business centre, the changing of the Windsor Castle guard.

Virtually every hotel in the centre of town was being commandeered by TV crews from all over the world.

Broadcasters even had remotely controlled cameras (wrapped up to keep them dry) on posts carrying.... cameras.

Security was pretty intense and highly visible....

...in all shapes and sizes. If it moved, then a TV camera was pointed at it.

Queen Victoria was not at all sure what to make of this chap walking round all day with a plastic sheep on his shoulder. Neither was I.

The market cross house is one of Windsor's attractions in that it's not exactly straight and upstanding. Queen Victoria would definitely not approve.

The Guild Hall, built by Christopher Wren is on the left, overlooked by Hampton's Estate Agents which was the site of one of our temporary studios.

My colleague, Ian Dow had some lamps rigged under the canopy to illuminate HRH and his new bride when they emerged from inside the guild hall.

Looking on to the Guild Hall from the west.

The shop windows, needless to say, were full of merchandise...

...of all shapes and sizes...

Later in the week, a flag to dwarf all flags will appear on the round tower to the lower right of this picture.

Time for a walk around the centre. This used to be the royal station, now converted into tourist shops and restaurants.

This was even a replica of Her Majesties 'puffer'. Another flagpole, another flag. St George, this time.

If it sits still for long enough, interview it.

This interviewee has a track record of breaking into Palaces and kissing Princes.

True.
