The wreckage is not only tangible but very distinct in this lonely corner of the Brecons.

Six young men died here on a night flying training exercise.

The Canadian Flag flies over the wreckage.

It is very quiet here with just the occasional raven and buzzard for company.

I found it quite a moving experience just being here, thinking about the bigger picture of World War II.

My own father died in November 1943. I was born posthumously in June '44.

If you would like to know more, there is a very good web site at: http://mf509.blogspot.com/

Lunch was taken amidst the rocks at the top of Carreg Goch with the panoramic view above. more colour and patterns on the way down in the mosses and lichens.

and a couple of waterfalls.
Back to the car by a steep path created by sheep mostly. Ed is on the horizon as he often was on this trip! I'll get my own back when we next go cycling together!

This panoramic view rewarded us for our efforts. Thanks for the field trip, Ed, I shall continue to learn more about the area in which I live.
