Bow Lake August 24th 2003, 8 a.m. Cold and
beautiful. |
Just as cold, just as beautiful. |
 |
|
Our friends, Ros and Fergus who had
followed a similar trail through the Rockies and dined with us at Num ti
Jah. |
 |
 |
Sadly, never enough time to explore. Tantalising
glimpses of the Wapta icefield, one of seven along the parkway. The Icefields
are the large upland glaciers; there are also 25 smaller but still notable
glaciers. |
 |
A nearby mountain has been named after Jimmy
Simpson as a tribute to what he did for Num ti Jah and tourism in this
area. |
A few miles down the road, and we are
treated to this spectacular cloud formation. You can see how flying saucer
stories might start. |

Lake Louise is undeniably beautiful. Here
it is with a squirrel in foreground. However, it is not somewhere you will
enjoy on your own; coaches galore and a massive (full) car park ensure
that. |
 |
Below is a mini panorama of Lake Louise.

Just up the road is Moraine Lake. Not nearly
so many people, its another gem. |
 |
There is a very easy and enjoyable walk along
the waters edge. |
|
Logs, always logs. Nice to have foreground
interest. |
 |
The path stops here.

OK, one is a stuffed dummy. The other one's
me. |
And so to Banff, the pictures below were taken
in the Cascade Rock Garden. |

Eating, always eating. |
