Whenever I visit somewhere new (to me) I seek out the odd, the quirky and anything which has the essence of that country. Yuyao did not dissapoint.

A soldier or policeman sending a text. Just as many millions of people do around the world every minute of every day. Onward and upward

Old and, in the background, new China

a view of the city and central Yuyao.

Now these stumps foxed me. Are they a kind of sundial?

This lady was happy to give me a smile.

Having descended back to street level, I decide to take a leisurely walk around the block.

This motor cyclist is carrying a ladder strapped to his bike! I liked the way some of theses scooters had gloves attached to the handlebars.

A spot of recycling perhaps.

Then I spotted this small street and shop...

where I met these ladies who had mixed feelings about being photographed by the white haired westerner! This gentleman was keen to pose.

All the tricycles appear to be registered with the authorities.

A huge banner is being rigged here.
Spring blossom against the background of a huge stone which typically had Chinese script telling onlookers something about the garden that it fronted.
A childrens play area in the park. Some modern sculpture that is symbolic of something. I know not what.
