family. A sort of takeaway I guess.

beautiful birds. Rescued from near extinction by a
band of dedicated enthusiasts. Down to less than a dozen pairs in the
1950's, now into the hundreds.
This was our base, really excellent food
in what was once a Victorian workhouse!
Next day, back to the visitor centre for a longer
look at things watery.
Serious walkers arrive and get togged up.
There are some excellent bike trails,
too.
we take one of the way marked walks: No 2, actyally.
With the constant supply of water vapour (other than
the stuff that falls from clouds) a certain mossy look results.

Next, we are off on a five mile drive to
the Claerwen Dam.
