Santa Barbara Mission contd.

A lovely old tree.

Skull and crossbones to keep evil out.

Afterwards, we drove higher up the hill and saw the distressing remains of houses burnt in the fires of May 2009.

back on the beach: what swims here?

Jaws? No, I think not.

This was a nice public beach a few miles nrth of town:

El Capitan. We ate our picnic lunch here and just enjoyed the views.

More Pelicans.

A young lady dices with a cold Pacific Ocean.

Some random snappings of beach colour afterwards.

The Bath Street Inn in Santa Barbara was our base.

Very nice B & B. See tripadvisor.com

some of our lovely meals...

Jean and i making another one of those holiday big decisions: where to go for dinner?

Decision made! So that was our experience of Santa Barbara. A very pleasant town with lots to keep a cameraholic like me busy.

Next, we start our return to base (San Fran) via the delightful small town of Carmel.

It seemed to be a haven for dog lovers...
