My walk takes to to the Famagusta Gate area.
Here is the best preserved gate of the old Venetian City now in use as an
art gallery.
This rather sombre memorial shows prisoners being
released from a symbolic cell.
This is a section of the walls which have been restored a
great deal since my last trip to Nicosia. The Pentadaktylos mountains can be
seen in the distance.
I liked the patterns caused by the fire spiral ladder.
I have a friend...
Not far away, Christmas shopping and eating goes on.
Am I really in Cyprus?
Looking northwards over the occupied part of
the city to the mountains and a huge Turkish flag planted into the
mountainside.
A non too subtle gesture.
A couple more night shots and a day shot of the start of
Nicosia's main shopping district.
So ended another visit to Nicosia, which
is clearly doing much better in my humble opinion. I had some great food,
but it was much more expensive than in 2000. Joining the E.U. I guess is
something to do with that. I hope to return.
