Some vegetation in the Parc. Spot the birdies in this
tree. There are several just sheltering from the midday sun. |
| The Arc de Triomf just a short distance from the Park. |
I lunched in this rather fine setting inside the
Hivernacle. I can recommend it. |
One of the nice starters. |
this is the Estacio de Franca, Barcelona's second largest
main line station and the oldest, built in 1862. |
Keeping my Apple dry could be the title of
this picture taken during a drizzly morning. |
Out of the drizzle, time for a wee glass of
Rose. |
Another day, our friends arrive on the overnight boat
from Genoa. |
The following day Jean and I meet up with Tony (right)
and Mary Escott and Harry Thomas (left) in a delightful mediaeval village
for lunch just 40 miles or so south of the Pyrenees. |
Mary, Tony, Harry Thomas, Jean, Jen Thomas
and Anne.
Harry and Tony used to be my colleagues in
BBC Wales.
It was a super lunch. Our friends were
staying in nearby La Franca. |
The meal is complete, but the drinking continues... |
Another evening and we enjoy a banquet (literally) in the
splendid surroundings of Barcelona's Chamber of Commerce. Built in 1292. It
was a bit like eating in St. Paul's cathedral! |
The setting was just amazing. |
The food and service was amazing too.
there was a beautiful clock mechanism at one
end of the hall.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a sharp
picture of it. I blame the wine. |
Another evening we were entertained at the Olympic
stadium t a sit down meal for about 2000 people! |
As we arrived, we were given drinks to help admire the
views over the city and the iconic communications tower built for the 1992
Games. |
The sight of all the beautifully prepared and lit tables
made one gasp. the food and service was, once again, excellent. |
| Afterwards, it was back out onto the terraces to meet our
carriages to take us home. |
Goodnight Barcelona. |
