Pillars slope to the right and to the left. But what
elaborate pillars. Not a spirit level in sight in Gaudi's building kit. |
One last view of park Güell. |
Different kinds of curves now in a public park near our
hotel, the AC Barcelona. |
Curves of a different kind on the beach.
No, the nudist beach is behind the camera! |
Nice a way as any to spend a few hours? |
I did once try this and failed, miserably. I
think it's the marine equivalent of flying a helicopter. |
Big sails and little ones. |
This middle of the road (literally) construction is in
the Olympic village area, constructed for the 1992 Olympics.
I thought it looked rather like the remains of some
terrorist atrocity. |
This was more like it, an impressionistic sculpture of
the female form.
The real thing just happens to be passing on the right. |
There are glimpses of Barcelona's rather
grand 19th century buildings, but not many. These are just opposite the
Zoological Gardens and, I believe are now used as student accommodation. |

park within easy walking distance of the city centre. |
Pretty soon, one gets a glimpse of one of Gaudi's earlier
works; not a palace, it's a fountain. Yes, a fountain! |
From the front, it does look like an ever so slightly
over the top kind of fountain. |
Taken on another (cloudy) day, a group of children are
given a little history lesson. No, you
can't go yet! |
Elsewhere in the park is the Catalunyan
Parliament. |
There is a particularly fine Umbracle designed by Josep
Amargos. |
