Sedona and the Grand Canyon

The Red Rock River was a lovely spot to 'chill' with your feet dangling in the water. I know, I did.

Later, we took another of Fran's recommendations and dined in a beautiful setting in a rather exclusive resort setting. Jeans face says all about the food.

The visiting bird, by the way, was actually a metal one. Not too threatening.

Our last morning and, sadly, it was time to move on. Not too sadly, though, for it was time to see the 'Big One', the Grand Canyon.

Apart from getting a bit lost in Flagstaff and arriving at the Canyon from the wrong direction, we did actually find the 220 mile long canyon without too much difficulty.

This was actually the lesser canyon and the 'little' Colorado.
Here we arrive at the Desert viewpoint from the Cameron direction and at a height of about 6500 feet. The viewing tower was built in the 1930's and is quite a stylish place.

here, I met this couple who were doing the Harley Davidson thing, but with their little dog, as well!

The view from the top is, well, awesome. A word legitimately earned here.
Zoomed in on my big lens (650mm) that little streak of blue is the mighty Colorado River.

Inside the viewing tower (far right) is a bit special.

Looking up.

Here some info about the tower. It stands 7522 feet above sea level

Nothing better for a photographer than some foreground interest.

Now we are at the main viewing point on the Southern Rim.

The girl on the left here walked along a scarily narrow piece of rock with sheer drops on either side.

Your intrepid photographer took absolutely no risks at all for this shot.
