More Valparaiso

(Tesco is one of the UK's biggest supermarkets)

Valparaiso is built on many hills, and has made life a little easier for the locals by building Ascenseurs.

Although old and a bit creaky, they continue to give good service to thousands of locals every day. Not to mention us tourists.

This is the 'carriage' for want of a better word.

An interesting close up of the electrical arrangements suggests its better to keep ones hands in ones pockets.

Is 1893 when it opened, perchance?

All aboard and 'Mind the Doors'!
Once at the top, there are some splendid views of the city to be had.

A sneak peek into the control room reveals technology that will not be greatly affected by the latest computer virus

It's in the engine room where things get really interesting; I don't think the UK's health and safety at work people would be too happy with this set up!

I could have reached out and touched the commutator of this electric motor as it spun under the influence of a lot of volts! On our continuing journey around Valparaiso we got a glimpse at the Congress building with it's holey look.

Some other buildings that caught my attention

and a couple of cats...
