This is the bay at Newport, Pembrokeshire, one
of my favourite places in Wales. There are some super places to eat and
stay hereabouts, Cnapan is one of them, my own personal
favourite. |
 |
|
Swansea Marina is a fine
place to explore on a sunny day, but does present problems in a panoramic
photograph. Foreground objects are too close and in shade. I'm not
entirely happy
with this one, but I include it just to show that South Wales is not about
coal mines and industrial dereliction.

Just a few miles south of Lake Bala is yet
another green and beautiful valley: Cwm Cynllwyd. Its just another chunk of
Wales at its best! |
 |
|
Without
doubt, one of my favourite views in Wales. As you cross the Cob just south
of Porthmadoc you get this fine vista of water and distant Snowdonia. |
 |
|
The Harbour in Porthmadoc always attracts
attention from tourists being, as it is, just at one end of the main
street. |
 |
|
The
town and castle of Conway seen from Deganwy, with brooding Snowdonia off
to the left. |
 |
|
And now...for something
completely different. This is Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales, a slate
mining town that has fallen on hard times. It's high rainfall and slate roofs
combine to give this picture an atmosphere of gloom.
I have recently received a picture
showing how this site has been transformed and am happy to show it if you

Criccieth, on the Lleyn peninsula
is always good for some dramatic beach plus sea shots. The hills of mid
Wales are in the background.

This
beautiful reservoir is right in the middle of Wales, between Llanidloes
and Staylittle. It's a favourite short cut of mine when I travel north
along the A470. Llyn Clywedog, has many moods; I've seen it frozen, in
bright sun, with snow all around and with layers of mist reflecting a
winter sun.

We had a little snow earlier this year, so I
was out into the Brecons
to search out a few suitable viewpoints for panoramas. This from just below
the Storey Arms. |

Pen y Fan in summer 2007. Blissful view,
always worth the walk. |
