The views were very Scottish, very serene. |
After breakfast, we head south along the new 19
highway before turning inland to Mt Washington, a local ski resort.
'On a clear day,
visitors look out across the Strait of Georgia at a panorama of the
Sunshine Coast, from
Powell
River to
Sechelt, with the peaks of the Coast Mountains rising in a long
march behind.' |
| On the long and winding road up the mountain, we pause
for 'snaps'. |
On our return down the mountain, we see
the views referred to above. |
Then, it's the coast road and a coffee stop by the
sea at Qualicum Beach. |
There, we buy sandwiches and decide to picnic on our
way to the west coast. En route,
we stop at the well known cathedral trail which is a very impressive
walk through huge trees. |

| This place is like Disney for Adults! Almost beyond
belief. |
Picnic time by the calm, clear waters of
Sproat Lake. |
The large sea plane is just an exhibit nowadays.
On our way to
Ucluelet, we get a glimpse
of our first bear: it has just swum across a river and is now happily
chomping grass. |
