Newborough Warren and Forest is located in the
south west corner of the island and there is a small fee to enter. I
said later to Jean, Its the best £3 I ever spent! I thought it was a
super semi wilderness area and am now annoyed that it took me 64 years
to discover it in the first place!
When you arrive and check out the map, you realise
what a huge area it covers.
I loved the 'long' views.
and the colours and textures.
The sky wasnt exactly inviting but it was warm and
dry, so no complaints.
Looking back towards the mainland, albeit through
some haze.
The waves gleamed in the autumn sunlight.
Across the bay (Ynys Llandwyn) we get a
first view of the lighthouse.
There was much variety in the nature of
the beach itself.
As we start along the peninsula towards the
lighthouse, you can enjoy the view of the beach and woods beyond.
The signposted walk gives you glimpses of bays and
coves beyond.
We are not alone...
I love the brooding sky on this shot.
There are some ruins of a 12th century church.
If you haven't been to Newborough yet; go! It's
super. Easy walking and wild views that reminded us of Vancouver Island
wilderness beaches.
