Back to 2005 now for the big climb

Out of Rowen, a long and winding road climbs up the track of a Roman Road. I was cycling, and it was tough going. Rowen-6.jpg (43577 bytes) Quite close to the tree line, it was very windy and quite cool for the end of June. There was a gale blowing from the North West. Rowen-7.jpg (35445 bytes)

Eventually, the road sort of finished, and I crossed into no mans land, with the eventual reward of dropping from the 1400 feet above sea level which is where I was now at. Rowen-9.jpg (30348 bytes) Right at the top are some standing stones, so I thought I would stand alongside one of them!

The views began to open up towards the north coast of Wales.

To the north, is the Island of Anglesey with Puffin Island to the right. The weather is clearly anything but settled.

Rowen-12.jpg (42104 bytes) As I enjoy the descent, there are wild 'orses about. Rowen-13.jpg (31448 bytes) One here, with Llanfairfechan and the A55 behind. I had a rapid and somewhat scary descent to the main road and managed to get back to base before the rain set in.
