A cool blustery day in January 2007 saw me on a short trip to Oxford for a wander around the touristy bits of that fine, historic town. So much history and beautiful architecture. Just a few photographs then of my day.

Oxford has a fine indoor market.

Not unlike the one in Cardiff, I have to say.

I followed the excellent walking tour booklet provided by the Tourist information office.

As a cyclist I appreciate the fact that the bike reigns supreme here.

The graveyard of St Mary Magdelen.

A glimpse of The Ashmolean museum having some work done on its exterior.

Next, it was a visit to the Saxon tower of the church of St. Michael at the North Gate.
With an excellent view from the top of the tower.

and a beautiful interior, of course

This is the Carfax epicentre of Oxford. Why Carfax?  It is probably derived from the Latin for 'four forked'.

Just by the Post Office was the place for me to catch the 280 back to Thame when the time came.
