Santa Fe

Seems like the artistic epicentre of New Mexico! These guys have more artistic talent in their little fingers than I have in total. The wonderful statues that popped up all over the town....

In Santa Fe, we stayed in the El Rey Inn. Excellent choice, though I say it myself. Pleasantly situated and good rooms with an OK breakfast.

The city is an artistic epicentre of all kinds of creative talent.

Fine arts everywhere, 'if you don't like art, you shouldn't be here' as our tour driver, Scott told us.

This is an interesting cathedral built by myriads of imported stone masons from Italy. Lots of amusing stories about its construction, but I'm just a photographer with a bad memory!
I do remember that this was the first native Indian saint.

These are the doors of the cathedral, each panel tells a story of Santa Fe's history.

This panel tells you more about the lady saint above.

Inside is quite beautiful and not at all gloomy as most of our European cathedrals tend to be.

Adobe style pueblo accommodation.

and something for doggy...

You need well lined pockets to shop for a little garden furniture around here.

One of the original pueblos built of mud excavated from its own site; hence its lower than street level.

Importance is single letter registration plates.

People tend to congregate around the Plaza just to sit and chat, or just sit and sell stuff to tourists.
