This historic and ancient Convent was set on
a high hilltop not too far below the snow line.
Once again, I don't have the historic info
to go with the pictures, I just enjoyed the beauty of the place.
This chandelier is one of the most
magnificent that I have ever seen.
Once again, we took of our shoes and entered
this beautiful shrine within the Convent.

the winter sunshine
Don't rely on the convent clock for a time
check.
Further along the road, we pause for me to
take a pic of a goat herd.
In contrast to the motorway of earlier, we
find ourselves in four wheel drive country following a bus and asking for
directions in a sign postless part of the country.
Ali and our driver took us way up high into
the mountains to sample the delights of a superb restaurant serving
typical Syrian food. Although we were quite late arriving, the proprietor
had us fed and watered in some style.
Witness the superb selection of starters,
a bit like a Meze. Tasty meat kebabs followed on. Syrian food is very
tasty and quite spicy at times.
