In March 2003 we spent a week in the delightful small town (or large village) of Castells de Castells in a villa owned by family friends. The weather was unseasonably cool, but then, so was the scenery!


We sat in a pleasant beachside cafe in Maraira enjoying the view across the bay towards Calpe. Much of the Costa Blanca is heavily developed, but Maraira is pleasantly situated and at arms length from the tower blocks.

When you drive inland, the scenery becomes dramatic. Terraced slopes of towering limestone scenery make this area very popular with walkers.
