Oh dear, you realise how age is creeping up on you when you
look at the contents of a 1950's kitchen like this, and recognise many of
the items! |
This is just a joy to behold! Having worked on many 1930's
based episodes of The District Nurse, I feel a distinct sense of Déja Vu. |

The first building that you come across is the Chapel (Capel
in Welsh) and this is your view on entry. The minister would stand in the
pulpit, mid left. |
From upstairs, you can see down into the individual pews,
each with a little 'gate'. |
There is a row of cottages, originally miners dwellings,
each of which has been restored to a certain time in the history of the
buildings. This one has been taken back to the year 1805 or thereabouts. |
The next house is about 35 years younger, we're talking
1840.
1880, not sure about the fire extinguisher, though... |
Positively cosy compared with 1805. |
A touch of middle class 1920's, I think |
And finally, the TV appears in the corner. 1950's, I
think.
I should know, I was there. Well, in the 1950's that is. |
This interesting collection of buildings is well worth a
visit. |
There is a grocers shop, a hardware shop and more... |
Inside it's so nostalgic for a child of the 1940's
(guess who?)
Here's a sight for the photographically challenged... |
Once inside there's a non digital camera to record you or
your family in an Edwardian pose... |
A tailors shop. No one there to sew my button back on,
though. |
